"When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside." Matthew 13:19

Anytime seed is sown in order to plant a garden, the birds of the air come to eat the seed and so it is with God's word, the enemy comes to steal it out of your heart! How many times have you been reading scripture, listening to a sermon or a CD and all of a sudden your mind is flooded with other things? This is the enemy trying to steal your seed!

The scripture warns us to guard our heart because our heart is where seed is planted that will eventually grow up into a garden of the Lord. The parable of the sower also warns us to have a heart that is pliable, in other words a heart that is prepared to receive the word of God. I was fortunate to sit under hours and hours of teaching when I first came to the Lord and my heart was plowed and hoed to receive that which God was planting and so I grew until after almost 40 years I began to become rooted and grounded!

If you desire to become an oak tree, planted, watered and rooted deeply in His word it will take time and the enemy will fight you on this, but stand firm and continue to seek the Lord and receive that which He desires for you and you too will be grounded and established to withstand the storms and trials of the enemy!

His delight is in the law (word) of the Lord. And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season. Whose leaf also shall not wither and whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:2,3
