Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be troubled, either by a spirit or by word or letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. II Thessalonians 2:1,2

It seems the only thing preventing the return of Christ is the falling away of God's people from the faith, not a departure from church, but a conscious defection from obeying the word of God! This is a very serious indictment against the last days church, to have fallen away from following Jesus, something the book of Hebrews says that they can never be brought back to repentance!

So, how do we know if we have fallen away? There are several signs, the most evident is the church, who at one time sent the fire of His message and the baptism of His power upon the world, proclaiming the whole truth of His gospel, casting out demons, healing the sick and raising the dead! Today it is a resting place for weekend warriors and spectators who wouldn't lift a finger if you were lost, naked and in need of Jesus! Mausoleums containing the spiritual corpses of dead and lifeless church members who never surrendered to the Lordship of Christ!

It is like a person who was at one time in love with their spouse, but over time fell out of love and became estranged and alone without any relationship or communication leading to divorce. So it is with those who no longer pray, read their Bible or commune in the Spirit with God. They no longer have any vision or mission but have become darkened in their understanding with no revelation any more, only interested in the things of the world!

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times (now) some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. I Timothy 4:1

WE ARE IN THE MIDST OF APOSTASY

But know this that in the last days perilous times (times of stress) will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but denying its power. And from such people, turn away! II Timothy 3:1-5

This is the behavior of the world, the norm for modern day society, multitudes living in gross immorality, unconcerned for anyone and for the most part, out of control! In the last fifty years since the preachers stopped preaching repentance, mankind has gravitated to a new level of depravity.

America was once a shining beacon for the world, sending out the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and was an example of a righteous nation founded on godly principles, but now a modern day Babylon! This once great nation is now overrun with homosexuals, perverts, child molesters and drug addicted zombies! Every false religion and cult are pushing their demonic agendas and trampling on the gospel of Christ to gain an advantage in which someday America might even become a Muslim nation!

Liberalism has grown into a whining lot of abused women who on one hand complain they were molested and on the other dress so seductively that men have been given the idea that they want their advances, but when the heat comes they cry rape! Our children are being indoctrinated in the public schools to believe that homosexuality and transgenderism is normal and they are even being taught by drag queens who come into their classrooms. This nation has become a cesspool of perversion and gross immorality, not to mention their guilt in the legal slaughter of over 60 million innocent children through abortion!

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. I Corinthians 6:9-11

TEST YOURSELVES TO SEE IF YOU ARE IN THE FAITH!

Test (examine) yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? Unless indeed you are disqualified. II Corinthians 13:5

Falling away doesn't happen overnight, it is like being on a raft in the ocean and falling asleep and when you woke up you were hundreds of yards from shore and because it was so subtle you didn't even realize you were drifting. So it is when people fall away from the faith, other things begin to replace their relationship with God.

Normally, the first to go is your quiet time of prayer, meditation and study of the scriptures because of busyness, hobbies, sports, or whatever. Our relationship with God has to be maintained and a priority in our lives lest we fall as the scripture says, "From our own steadfastness." How much time do you spend with God? Do you only pray when there is an emergency, do you go to church out of obligation or to be fed on the crumbs of others, if so you may be in danger. Loving the world is also a prerequisite for failure and eventually falling away because of your involvement in the lusts and pleasures it avails!

Willful sin is another area that destroys faith because the devil heaps condemnation on the sinner who doesn't repent and before long he begins to be drawn away by his own disobedience and before long ends up back in the world just as a sheep who strays from his shepherd and the wolf comes and destroys him. If you still have an ounce of conviction and a remnant of God's Spirit, repent and return and God will restore your relationship and fill you anew with His Holy Spirit. It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day approaching. For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, (the blood of Christ) but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. (Hell) Hebrews 10:24-27
