Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. Ephesians 6:18
Prayer is our greatest asset in the arsenal of God, it is our line of communication with our heavenly Father. Without communication we would be cut off from our source of power and would be left alone on the spiritual battlefield to fend for ourselves. This is why it is so important to develop a dialog with God on a daily basis so that we know His voice when He speaks.
To pray in the Spirit is not only praying in tongues, or a heavenly prayer language, but it is being led by the Holy Spirit to pray for that which is God's perfect will for our lives. Supplication is an expression of deep need, sometimes not even spoken, but a heartfelt desire that touches God's heart. To intercede is to stand in for someone in prayer, believing God to act on their behalf as the apostles learned from Jesus as they interceded for the assembly of saints in Jerusalem.
Imagine what would happen if the power went off in America, no phones, Internet, TV, or even radio. We would plunge headlong into the dark ages in a matter of minutes, not having any communication or information, but total silence, and with no power and no electricity everything would shut down and the entire country would be wide open for an unprecedented attack from our enemies! So it is with spiritual warfare, we must always have our lines of communication open to the Father to receive our marching orders to battle the powers of darkness.
The effective, fervent (expression of deep need) prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16
