But the fruit of the Spirit is self control, against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:23

Controlling oneself is what walking in the Spirit is all about, a spiritual being walking on a journey with Jesus, but at the same time having to control his flesh! Our conscience dictates our actions coupled with Holy Spirit conviction, in other words, we are no longer under the law but under grace and the law is written in our hearts.

When we become tempted is when self control kicks in and we have to either stand and fight or flee youthful lusts! Temptation is not sin, it is an attack of your enemy Satan to try and deceive you and these trials, as you resist them, strengthen you to be able to overcome any temptation and walk in victory! Many believers are lazy and just attempt to walk this walk on "Cruise control" but this is a dangerous and even deadly choice that never ends well.

In the garden of Eden, Adam was on spiritual cruise control knowing the commandment of God but allowing the devil to walk into his house and seduce his wife, Eve! What would you do if someone broke down your door and came in to molest your wife? You know the answer to that one, but Adam didn't seem to get it, being enamored with Satan's sales pitch, he willfully sinned by doing that which God had commanded him not to do!

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren and sistren. James 1:14-16
