For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building. According to the grace of God, which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. I Corinthians 3:9,10
The apostle Paul, a Roman Jew, blinded by God, healed, filled with God's Spirit, and commissioned to build the Gentile church and write most of the New Testament scripture. This is the norm for the construction of God's temple because apostles have the blueprint given in the Spirit as the "Divine Design."
Today in many cases we just rent a building, fill it with chairs, and hope for a crowd to show up but most never make it because it is not ordained of God or started by an apostle, or someone called of God with an apostolic vision! Usually, a pastor with a good message will open a storefront and it may grow, but the problem is the pastor will feed the sheep and keep them penned up forever!
We are speaking of The Temple of the Living God, the very house of the Most High living in us, not some consumer-driven fast-food drive-in! Several things must be done to provide for a place of peace and an atmosphere of faith for the presence of the Holy Spirit to reside in the house. We must be expectant of the Holy Spirit to speak to us and to anoint our assemblies and provide signs, wonders, and miracles!
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 3:11
