"A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jerico, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him and departed, leaving him half dead." Luke 10:30
Jesus said that in the last days the love of many would grow cold because of lawlessness! It looks like it wasn't much different in Jesus' day. A man falls among thieves and two holy men pass right by him without lifting a finger to help him.
Many would pass by someone today not wanting to get involved, but a good Samaritan stopped to help the man. He had compassion and bandaged the man and brought him to an inn and took care of him. On the next day he gave money to the inn keeper and told him, "Take care of him and whatever you spend I will repay you."
Jesus then asked the lawyer which of the three do you think was a neighbor to him who fell among the thieves? And he said, "He who showed mercy on him."
Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise." Luke 10:37
