Until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. Acts 1:2,3
Jesus had risen from the dead just as He had told His disciples, and He appeared to them telling them to wait for the Promise of the Father. His death, burial, and resurrection validated His message, mission, and mandate to save mankind from their sins!
Satan was defeated, Jesus's blood was shed, and man was freed from his sins and generational curses. Now, there would be a New Birth, a son would be born, a New Man created in the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. The body of Christ would rise up to carry on the message of Christ; empowered with the Holy Spirit, they would be His ambassadors and representatives in the world.
The body of Christ would receive His Spirit becoming His human image in the earth, a miracle of God for Jesus to walk in the Spirit in us! Who would believe that after His death, burial, and resurrection He would live again in human form in His church? Christ in us the hope of glory!
And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which", He said, "You have heard from Me." Acts 1:4
