And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:27,28

As millions celebrate Easter, most never realize the significance of what really happened on what believers call, "Resurrection Day!" Jesus Christ, Lamb of God was sacrificed on a cross for the sins of all mankind and His blood became the "New Covenant" for all who would repent and receive forgiveness of their sins!

Christianity is not all it is cracked up to be in that it is supposed to possess eternal life for its members. Sadly, the devil has deceived many and divided up what is supposed to be the Body of Christ! To a lost world the Christian faith looks to be one large family with millions of members, but in fact there are only a few true disciples who are washed in the blood of the Lamb of God!

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the "Good News" for the lost to find their way into the Kingdom of God by repenting of their sins and believing in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ! To make Jesus Christ Lord, Master and Controller of your life and having your sins washed away by His precious blood through repentance will insure your entrance into the eternal kingdom of God!

Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible (perishable) things, like silver and gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without spot or blemish. I Peter 1:18,19

John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!" John 1:29

In the Old Testament under the law of Moses and the rituals and practices of the nation of Israel, the High Priest would take a lamb without spot or blemish, sacrifice it and would then enter the Holy of Holies and sprinkle the blood seven times on the mercy seat to atone for the people's sins!

This is a type and shadow of the Lamb of God who would come later in the future to be sacrificed on the cross for the sins of all mankind! From His Passover meal with His disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus would walk on His fateful journey to the cross! THE VIA DOLOROSA as it is called or The Stations of the Cross illustrates His walk to His own execution. Via Dolorosa means the “Way of suffering” or “Sorrowful way”. Via Dolorosa is a term used to describe the ceremonial route of Jesus in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Jesus suffered on the way to the cross and bled in seven specific places to set mankind free from sickness, disease and sin! His substitutionary death, meaning He suffered the punishment that was due to us set us free from our iniquities and sins making a way for us to inherit eternal life!

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. Hebrews 9:11,12

The old covenant was fulfilled in Christ and a New Covenant was inaugurated with the blood of Christ! Covenant means, a binding contract likened to being blood brothers with someone. In our case we are blood brothers with Christ!

When Jesus suffered and died and rose again the old priesthood was done away with and a new and living way was introduced. Jesus became our High Priest and we became His royal priesthood, a holy people no longer under law but grace. Jesus fulfilled the law and the temple was destroyed, the priesthood was done away with and the powers of darkness were disarmed.

The veil of separation in the temple was torn from top to bottom by the angels as Jesus drew His last breath, signifying man's ability to come before the throne of the Most High through the blood of Christ! Are you washed in the Savior's blood, are your sins forgiven and have you surrendered your life and heart to the Lord Jesus Christ? If not, Easter will just be another dead religious ritual and you will continue on your final journey to eternal damnation with the devil and his angels!
For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator of the new covenant, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they which are called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. Hebrews 9:13-15
