And they went before the king, and spoke concerning the king's decree: "Have you not signed a decree that every man who petitions any god or man within thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?" Daniel 6:12
Daniel served King Darius who wrote a degree that no one could petition any god or man for thirty days and so the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel when they found him praying to God and reminded the king of his decree.
Reluctantly the king had Daniel thrown into a den of lions where he spent the night and an angel of the Lord shut the mouths of the lions. There will be times in our lives as believers, although not fashionable or politically correct, that we will have to obey God and not man no matter what the outcome. There are countless stories of men and women of God who disobeyed the commands of man and suffered the consequences, many of whom gave up their lives.
Daniel's trust was in his God who honored his obedience and brought about a great deliverance for him and He will do the same for us if we will only serve and obey His will for our lives. As we approach the end of all things we will be tested in this even from our own government who will eventually turn against believers and it is happening before our very eyes as a spirit of anti-Christ invades our society. Who do you trust?
"My God sent His angel and shut the mouths of the lions, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you." Daniel 6:22
