But the fruit of the Spirit is gentleness. Galatians 5:23
We don't often hear of the attributes of a gentleman anymore with the advent of the "Macho" man, the virile "Marlboro" hard hitting, hard drinking, smoking and tough as nails kind of man! It always amazed me why women like a man to be rough with them and not a gentleman who cares for them, opens the doors for them, and respects them as a man should.
Jesus was such a man, gentle toward all who encountered Him, except for the phony religious crowd, to them He was a Lion, but to those who came to follow Him, a gentle Lamb. Jesus is our example of what a man of God is supposed to represent to a world who has lost their way in the midst of their worldly pursuits, lusts and pleasures. The gentle Lamb of God was sent to this earth to die for us all and to shed His blood on the cross to take away the sins of the world.
The world needs to see Spirit filled gentlemen who speak the truth in love, going about sharing the love of Christ to a world, lost and dying in their sins. The time is now to lay down your lives for the One who first laid down His for you and take up the stewardship of the mysteries of God and go forth as we have been commissioned to do.
And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. II Timothy 2:24-26
