Stand fast therefore in the liberty (freedom) by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1

I heard a message the other day concerning our redemption, how Jesus set us free from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. Many today don't understand redemption and are still living under the law, never realizing the freedom they have in Christ.

Abraham Lincoln issued the "Emancipation Proclamation" in 1863 as the nation approached the third year of a bloody civil war. The proclamation declared that all persons held as slaves within the rebellious states are, and henceforth shall be free. When the slaves heard the news many of the plantation owners and slavers lied to them, telling them it was not true and that they were still in bondage.

So it is today, many don't know they have been set free from the law of sin and death. Just like the slaves, many have been lied to about their freedom in Christ and remain in bondage, thinking they are orphans and beggars instead of being heirs of Christ!

For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." Galatians 3:10

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Galatians 4:4,5

We have been purchased with blood drawn from the veins of the Son of the living God, the Lord Jesus Christ! From the garden to the grave He bled in seven specific places to give us a complete and perfect salvation.

Sadly, many today who have been born again have been lied to like the slaves by ill-advised pastors, leaders and teachers who told them they were just poor old sinners saved by grace, destined to live in mediocrity until the trumpet sounds and Jesus takes them home! That is a lie from the pits of Hell! Saved by grace, yes, but poor old sinners, no!

If we could only grasp that which Jesus actually did for us apart from the doctrines and traditions of men, we would soar with eagles, walk in the power and glory of Heaven on earth, and accomplish the greater works of God, promised by the Savior!

But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7

Beware lest anyone cheat you (take you captive) through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principals of the world and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality (rule and authority) and power. Colossians 2:8-10

Jesus warned us that in the last days there would be many false prophets and the apostle Paul also warned us not to be cheated by tradition, worldly principals and doctrines of demons! Today there are many voices speaking lies to the believer to deceive and cheat them out of knowing who they are in Christ.

When Jesus began His ministry and went into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, the first thing Satan tried to do was to get Him to doubt who He was by saying, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." Was there any doubt? Jesus was just baptized, heard His Father speak audibly and saw the Holy Spirit descend upon Him in bodily form like a dove, but Satan still had the audacity to try and deceive Him!

If you are going to have victory on this journey with Jesus and follow Him in obedience you will have to gird up your loins, put on the armor of God and fight in the greatest battle ever fought! The devil will use every trick in the book to trap you and convince you that you are not really a believer, but he is a liar! You have been purchased with precious blood, redeemed from the curse of sin and death and you are more than a conqueror in Christ! So, with that said, "Fight the good fight!"

And you being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements (the law) that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:13,14
