But the fruit of the Spirit is joy. Galatians 5:22

At the time of this writing its Christmas, a time of great joy, mainly for kids who are in expectation of many gifts under the tree. For the rest of us I am afraid commercialism has dampened our joy and darkened our visions of sugar plums that used to dance in our heads!

Christmas was my favorite time of the year and in the fifties it was so much more joyful without all the hype and clamor of shopping through countless stores and websites trying to find the right gifts for everyone. I still remember waking early on Christmas morning excited and joyful that Santa left all these gifts and toys for me, but those days are over and we are in a different time that is moving way too fast!

For those of us who are born again believers in Christ, Christmas is also a joyful time to celebrate and give glory to the King of all kings, but this too has been changed for the most part into just another time to exploit the holiday with schemes and ploys to fill auditoriums with pageants and extravaganzas that promote membership, that in turn pay their gigantic overheads! So, with that said lets turn back the clock and remember the true reason for the season and celebrate Jesus with the joy of the Lord!

Whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory. I Peter 1:8
