"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men." Matthew 5:13

Salt is a very stable substance and the only way it can lose its flavor is to be watered down. Jesus said we are the salt of the earth and we can also lose our saltiness by the gospel being watered down or perverted in our thinking or we can simply lose our passion for God!

When I first came to Jesus I was on fire and I joined the local Southern Baptist church where many of the people were already cooled off and some, cold as ice for the Lord. They would tell me seeing my zeal and passion for God, "You will be just like us someday!" I said to myself, "No I wont!" I eventually left that church and went out into the streets where I continued my journey with Jesus ministering to the poor and needy and anyone who had a life controlling issue.

In order for one to sustain his spiritual walk and not lose his passion he must maintain his communion with God by prayer and meditation of the scriptures and disassociate with anyone who has lost their saltiness. Bad company corrupts good morals and their cold and dark outlook of the Christian's spiritual life will poison you and cause you to fall away!

Let your speech always be seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. Colossians 4:6
